The first was made for Core News:

Time for a new Core News Session. With Core News Sessions #7 I have the honor of presenting you a wicked mix by DJ Parasite of Deathsucker Records. The mix consists of sweet raggacore and breakcore tunes that makes you want to put on those old raving shoes. It has been some time since I last listened to this kind of music, but I really enjoyed this mix. Parasite also runs the music shop dswat.net where I have shopped records many times. In addition to releasing this mix today it is Parasites birthday. Happy birthday Parasite!

Core News Sessions #7 by Parasite on Mixcloud

The second mix is my DJ set from Bristol Dub Club @ The Black Swan on Friday 8th April 2011. Big up all the crew who were representing; Hytalbosrah Soundsytem from Birmingham, Jah Lokko Sounds, Neverlution, Deathsucker, Life4Land, Jungle Syndicate, Meganeural & everyone who was there & everyone who couldn’t be there & Tappis for the intro. Bless.

“Not everything good in games music resembles a film score…” – James Hannigan

Download audio file (bbcradio4-bleepbleepbloop.mp3)

Games Designer Paul Bennun explores the growing popularity and ambition of music composed for video games.

Video games now have the resources to match that of the big Hollywood orchestral film scores. But it’s not just commercially that video game soundtracks are taken seriously. Composers are becoming more interested in it artistically and BAFTA and the Ivor Novellos have recently recognised the form with their own award categories.

Bennun traces the development of this new genre and finds out how it is changing the way music is made and consumed. Has it now left behind bleeps and bloops and arrived at the brink of artistic respectability?

Eat Them! was developed by FluffyLogic and released on PlaystationNetwork for PS3 in December 2010.

I was head of sound design in charge of creating and balancing the sound effects, composing  music and licensing tracks. This involved creating over 100 sfx for the game, 5 original tracks plus a bunch of end-game short pieces, as well as making them all sound right in-game. I was also in charge of currating the in-game music, which was licenced from Deathsucker Records, Broken Robot Records and Broken Records.

ATP is a massive music festival held at Butlins in Minehead and invites a curator for each event to choose all the other bands playing on the bill- like making a mix-tape and then seeing it live.
